Photo of the week – Grand Palace guards

At each of the entrances to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha complex stands a pair of giant guards. Brightly coloured and almost as tall as the walls behind them, they really stand out and were infact the most impressive thing that I saw in Bangkok.

Rivaling the sun bears for being the most dangerous at Tat Kuang Si, these children were being kept safely behind bars whilst their mother sold grilled bananas at the stall between them and the bears.

Photo of the week – Mobile Garden

The things I see being carted about never fail to surprise me. Whether its a whole class of 12 year olds on a cycle rickshaw, a wardrobe on the back of a motorbike, chickens in the luggage compartment under a bus, or something as simple as a mobile garden as in this picture. I spotted this guy outside the Wenshu Temple in Chengdu, it was the cactus that initially got my attention as I hadn’t previously seen any in China.
