Chilling out in Kep
Kep is a lazy little seaside town in the south of Cambodia. The crab market is perhaps the biggest draw in Kep where locals and tourist gather to taste the local crab cooked with Kampot pepper. For me though, Kep was a place to relax, I was looking forward to lying in the sun with a couple of beers and not doing much else at all.
A small strip of sand littered in rocks is the only beach that Kep has to speak of, but a short boat ride across the sea lies Rabbit Island which has a great beach. Boats can be arranged with moto and tuk tuk drivers in Kep as well as through every hotel and bar. For $5 each we were picked up at our hotel (Botanica bungalows 2km out of Kep), taken to the dock, taken to and from Rabbit Island by boat, and then driven back to our hotel. The beach on Rabbit Island was pretty nice, it had maybe 50 people spread out over it, most of whom had taken boats across that morning. Rabbit Island is so named because it apparently looks like a rabbit, I couldn’t see it myself.
