Photo of the week – Taj Mahal

19 October 2009 No Comments

Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

After two wet mornings, the third morning of 4.30am wake ups proved to be more promising. There was no rain and the sky looked a lot clearer than the previous two days, so I decided it was worthwhile leaving the hotel and heading round to the Taj Mahal to get in as soon as the gates opened. I arrived at just before 5 and there was already a queue of around 20 people waiting to get in at half past when they opened up the gates.

I had to be very quick to get round to the Taj Mahal in time to get pictures without anyone in them. Fortunately everyone else at the same idea so for the first five minutes no one ventured past the first viewing point.

Even though I had seen the Taj Mahal from the side, from behind and from roof top restaurants, its size still impressed me greatly. Nothing can really prepare you for its size or beauty.
