Shooting the big five – elephant

P1020106 Shooting the big five elephant

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve seen elephants playing in a campsite, ripping trees apart to eat, washing in water holes and walking with their young just like in the jungle book. I’ve seen baby elephants, massive elephants and elephants with missing and broken tusks that are likely to have been damaged fighting. Elephants were abundant in the Masai Mara, Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, and like every other animal were very used to safari vehicles. Often they could be found at the side of the track where they would walk along side the vehicle as we drove past. This allowed for some great close up shots, but on one occassion I would have prefered to have been elsewhere; the girls in the jeep with me got very excited when an elephant relieved himself in front of us.

Lol at the elephant peeing moment, a large creature like that I imagine it must have pee'd a mini-waterfall!
