 Shooting the big five Leopard

Leopards are renowned for being difficult to spot. Hiding in long grass and hanging out in trees means that you really need to know what you’re looking for. In the Serengeti our driver pulled up behind another jeep in which everyone was pointing towards something in a tree. A long cat like object could be seen on one of the branches, with what looked like a tail dangling down. Assuming that this was the leopard we all started to zoom in with our cameras only to find that it was merely a cat shaped branch.

After waiting to see the leopard move it finally jumped down out the tree and started walking through the long graze in pursuit of a gazelle. At times it came very close to the side of the track we were driving on. Leopards really are beautiful creatures, they move so elegantly. We stalked the leopard stalking gazelles for a good hour, hoping that it was going to catch its breakfast but after it climbed another tree and made itself comfortable we gave up the chase.
