Waiting for the first kill

 Waiting for the first kill

After not seeing any kills in the Masai Mara, Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater, our attention was turned to the Snake Park in Arusha. The Snake Park campsite that we were staying at was home to snakes and other reptiles that had been rescued from the wild and were now being rehabilitated. A small crowd gathered around one snake after two mice were spotted in its enclosure. The mice were being brave, running around taunting it. So many times we thought the mice were gone for as the snake backed them into a corner time and time again. Once more, we were out of luck. The snake evidently wasn’t as hungry as we were as we stopped watching it in favour of getting dinner.

There's something morbid about wanting to watch a kill, but I must admit that I'd be pretty disappointed about the snake not eating the mice, especially after all that taunting from the mice. It's just not right.

haha, that's awesome – mice taunting a snake. Don't think they'll get the last laugh though.
