Glasgow to London
Getting from Glasgow to London is the start of my adventure. I’ve looked into all the usual suspects for making the journey cheaply; Ryanair, Easyjet, Virgin Trains and National Express. The train is usually my preferred option because once you take in transfer times from airports at either end, check in times etc it usually takes just as long as the train, but with the train you can actually be doing something for the five hours rather than waiting and queuing repeatedly. Unfortunately I no longer have a young person’s rail card so the train is nowhere near as cheap as it once was. The budget airlines are usually the next best option but they have a nasty habit of adding on extra charges for checking in luggage. It came as a bit of surprise to find that at £35, British Airways are actually the cheapest and most convenient option. Their price includes checked luggage and they fly from Glasgow rather than Prestwick airport (Easyjet also fly from there). The rest of the flights that I have booked are with One World airlines too, so I guess I might as well start as I mean to go on!

Yeah, last couple of times I’ve done Glasgow-London (or vice versa) I was surprised to find that BA was the cheapest.
There’s a new site at http://www.farefinder.thetrainline.com/ which is handy for finding train tickets but I guess you quite limited in when you can travel if you have a connecting flight.
