Applying for an India visa by post

1 May 2009 One Comment

Applying for an India visa by post couldn’t be simpler, well it could, the form is overly complicated, but thats beside the point. To apply for a tourist visa (if you’re a British passport holder) all you need to do is:

  1. Fill out the online application and make your payment at the end.
    • There is no need to book accommodation in advance of applying, for address in India simply put NA in all the fields.
    • In the references in India section you can enter “Booking accommodation on arrival”.
  2. Print out the completed form and receipt as proof of payment.
  3. Send the form, receipt, 2 passport photos, your passport and a self addressed special delivery envelope to the new postal application processing centre by special delivery.

The postal application processing centre opened last week and is currently providing a very efficient service. I sent my application on Monday afternoon and have received my visa this morning (Friday), I was expecting it to take 10 days to process so I was very surprised to receive it so quickly.

    Hi man!

Saw your homepage from a link on CS and got quite inspired… I am planning to make a RTW trip myself and to leave safe Sweden in July for some adventure…

Wasn’t able to find the post on CS again and didn’t find you on the searches so decided to write you here instead… you can find me under a_dato in CS… would be great to have a chat and perhaps we can meet up somewhere on the road :-)
