panasonictz5black Cameras have arrived

After deliberating over whether to buy a waterproof camera housing or an actual waterproof camera, I ended up opting for the two camera approach. Last week a Pentax Optio W60 arrived to take the place of waterproof camera and a Panasonic Lumix TZ5 arrived to be used for everything non water related. I’m going to take the TZ5 out with me over the next couple of days so expect to see some new pictures appearing in the Scotland gallery.

gorillapod Cameras have arrived

To accompany the cameras I have purchased a Gorillapod which is essentially a tripod that can be attached securely to any surface. I have also bought three 8GB memory cards and 2 spare batteries for each camera this is to allow for the times that I can’t charge batteries or backup photos for several days.

I am planning to upload my photos as I go, but they will need to be lower resolution versions otherwise I will be spending me entire trip in internet cafes waiting for the uploads to complete! I will be taking an external usb hard disk with me to backup the full resolution photos to. Any recommendations for a drive that is small, reliable and has a capacity of around 300GB would be appreciated.

Can’t recommend a drive, but it might be a good idea to backup images onto CD/DVD, and post them back home periodically. Less of a disaster if you lose your bag.

I was thinking about that too. Its really got to be a combination of approaches. I’m considering buying this hard drive: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148374
